Clergy
Congregation Shearith Israel has had a distinguished history of
religious leadership. Today our congregation is led by our spiritual leader
and Senior Rabbi, Rabbi William Gershon, along
with Rabbi David Glickman, Rabbi
Joe Menashe, and Cantor Itzhak Zhrebker.

Rabbi William Gershon
Rabbi William Gershon has been the Spiritual Leader of Congregation Shearith
Israel since 1998. Born and raised in New Jersey, Rabbi Gershon is the
product of the Conservative Movement. Rabbi Gershon attended the joint
program of the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia University where
he received a BA with distinction in Biblical Studies and BA in Ancient
Semitic Languages and Cultures. He received his rabbinic ordination from
the Seminary in 1987 and was co-recipient of the Cytron Prize as the outstanding
graduate of his rabbinical school class (read more) |

Rabbi David Glickman |
Rabbi David Glickman
Since arriving in Dallas in 2001, Rabbi
David M. Glickman has been a powerful catalyst for cutting-edge, innovative
programming, dynamic education, and meaningful spiritual experiences at
Congregation Shearith Israel.
Currently, Rabbi Glickman serves as the Education Director
of our Weitzman Family Religious School. Additionally, Rabbi Glickman’s
pulpit responsibilities are at our North Satellite, Beit Aryeh every Shabbat

Rabbi Joseph Menashe |
Rabbi Joseph Menashe
Rabbi Joe Menashe began serving as an Associate Rabbi in
the summer of 2006. He hails from Portland, Oregon, where he grew up attending
Congregation Neveh Shalom. Rabbi Menashe received a B.A. from the University
of Pennsylvania in 1993, attended the Pardes Instititute for Jewish Studies
from 1993-1994, and subsequently started his rabbinic studies. Rabbi Menashe
obtained a Master of Hebrew Letters degree from the University of Judaism
in Los Angeles in 1996 and received his Rabbinic Ordination and a Master
of Arts degree (with a concentration in Jewish Education) in 2000 from
the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. During rabbinical school,
Rabbi Menashe taught in a variety of youth and teen settings and spent
most of his summers working at Camp Ramah in California. (read more) |

Cantor Itzhak Zhrebker |
Cantor itzhak Zhrebker
Straight from Odessa, by way of Israel,
Cantor Itzhak Zhrebker brings a warm, personable approach to teaching
what he loves most-Jewish and liturgical music.
He is also known for his breathtaking voice and musical talent. As a child
prodigy, he started studying and singing professionally at the age of
six. His parents recognized his musical and vocal talents early on and
encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Cantor Zhrebker studied under
the direction of Cantor Naftali Herhtick, Cantor I. Eshel and Cantor Louis
Danto, and received concentrated cantorial education from Elli Jaffe,
the musical director of the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem. He earned his
Master's degree in voice coaching, choir conducting and solo performance
from Odessa City Academy of Music. He has a full operatic voice and has
mastered Verismo and Belle Canto techniques (read more) |
