Congregation Shearith Israel
The Beck Family Sanctuary
Shearith
Israel is proud to welcome member Jordan Herskowitz’s award-winning
autobiographical one-man play, Growing Up Jordy Pordy, for a one
night only performance on Sunday, April 18. Herskowitz, who grew
up in Dallas, has been touring with his play internationally for
the past year and a half and is about to begin touring in the
United States. Shearith is happy to welcome him back to his home
congregation for this exclusive performance.
Growing Up Jordy Pordy follows Herskowitz’s heart-warming
and personal story about life as a professional mascot. Once his
furry gloves come off, Herskowitz reveals his own struggles of
growing up Jewish in Texas, being the forgotten middle child with
both of his brothers born with Cystic Fibrosis, and his family’s
journey with organ donation.
The performance also will raise awareness for Richie’s Spirit,
a non-profit foundation Herskowitz has set-up in memory of his
younger brother who passed away in 2007. The foundation’s
two-pronged mission is to promote organ donation and to share
Richie’s story.
A talkback with Jordan Herskowitz and a reception will follow
the performance.
