One of the most important things we offer at Shearith Israel is the opportunity to find your place within our community.

Whether through our 20s & 30s group, SISterhood, Gen X, Pillars/Hazak, or one of our many other affinity groups, there is a place for everyone.

By highlighting these opportunities, we help people discover meaningful connections, get involved, and experience a true sense of belonging within our Jewish community.

20s and 30s

Shearith 20s and 30s is a community built by young Jewish adults, for young Jewish adults. It brings together people in their 20s and 30s who are looking to connect, build friendships, and feel part of the DFW Jewish community.

Grounded in the values of kehillah (community), tikkun olam (repairing the world), and simcha (joy), the group offers a welcoming, inclusive space to explore Jewish identity and create lasting connections.

Whether it’s a cozy Shabbat dinner or a lively holiday gathering, there’s something for everyone – blending tradition with a modern, social vibe.

Gen X

This affinity group at Shearith is intended for the target audience of Shearith members age 45ish-59ish. We are looking to provide more opportunities for congregants in this demographic to get together, rekindle old friendships, and make new ones.

Prime

Shearith Prime offers engaging programs and social experiences for adults in their 50s and 60s. We gather to celebrate Shabbat and Jewish holidays, share meaningful moments, and enjoy vibrant social events. From spirited gatherings to group outings, Shearith Prime is all about connection, community, and embracing this dynamic stage of life.

Pillars

Community leaders came together to create programs and events for adults 65+, shaped by members’ interests throughout the year. The group is called Pillars: Shearith’s Hazak Community. “Hazak,” from the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, reflects wisdom, maturity, and looking ahead.

SPIRITed Study

SPIRITed Study is our unique brand of men’s programming here at Shearith.  Our featured events fuse together “spirits” and “spiritual” through liquor tastings with top-end providers, combined with some Torah from Rabbi Sunshine.  Other calendar highlights include watch parties for the Cowboys, Stars or Mavs, Sunday brunches with guest speakers, and the World-Wide Wrap (typically on Super Bowl Sunday) when we gather with other local congregations to wrap tefillin as part of a national engagement effort by the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs.  Come join us throughout the year for some great camaraderie and fun!

Social Action – Tikkun Olam

Throughout the year, the committee leads meaningful initiatives that benefit our local community, including the High Holy Day Food Drive and the Diaper Drive benefiting Jewish Family Service (JFS). We are also proud to support local organizations such as Vogel Alcove, The Legacy, and other community partners through service projects and donations. Together, we strive to strengthen our community by turning compassion into action – one project at a time.

Interested in making a difference in our community? The Social Action Committee welcomes new volunteers, fresh ideas, and helping hands throughout the year. Whether you can volunteer at a collection drive, help organize projects, or simply want to get more involved, we’d love to have you join us. Please contact Ronda Beinfeld to learn more.

College Connection

Shearith Israel’s College Connection sends care packages to college-age students, helping them stay connected to the community while away from home. Packages are mailed twice a year – at the High Holy Days and Purim – and include holiday treats and letters from Shearith leadership.
