The Small-Waldman-Cohen Signature Series brings distinguished Jewish musical artistry each year to Congregation Shearith Israel and to the greater Dallas–Fort Worth Jewish community. Through thoughtfully curated performances, the series celebrates the depth, beauty, and spiritual power of Jewish music across generations and traditions.
Under the artistic direction of Hazzan Itzhak Zhrebker, and with the dedicated leadership of Shearith Israel’s Music Committee, chaired by Dena Fein, the series presents two signature musical experiences annually:
A concert in the great cantorial tradition, led by Hazzan Itzhak Zhrebker and featuring distinguished visiting cantors, vocalists, and instrumentalists. This program highlights the richness of liturgical and classical Jewish repertoire in an inspiring concert setting.
The Small-Waldman-Cohen Signature Series is made possible through the generosity of our sponsors and the support of the Small-Waldman-Cohen Signature Series Fund. A variety of sponsorship opportunities are available, offering meaningful ways to sustain and enhance Jewish musical life in our community.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Adult Choir or have questions, please contact Hazzan Itzhak Zhrebker.
Conducted by Judy Kline in collaboration with Hazzan Itzhak Zhrebker, the High Holy Days Choir is a vital part of Congregation Shearith Israel’s music program. The choir enhances our High Holy Day services in the Aaron Family Main Sanctuary with powerful and inspiring choral music. Comprised primarily of professional singers, along with talented members of our congregation, this ensemble requires a trained voice and strong music-reading skills to participate.
Have you ever attended a musical Shabbat and thought, “I’d love to be part of that”? The Shearith Adult Choir offers a welcoming and rewarding opportunity to do just that. Singing with the choir is creative, uplifting, and a wonderful way to build friendships while helping lead our congregation in prayer and song. No audition is required – just a love of music and a desire to participate.
Join us for this year’s Y-Studs Hanukkah Concert! Y-Studs A Cappella is an all-male Jewish vocal group founded at Yeshiva University in 2010 that has grown from a college club into a professional ensemble. They are known for viral music videos such as Evolution of Jewish Music and popular covers like Hashem Melech, totaling over 10 million online views and more than 36,000 YouTube subscribers. The group performs internationally across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Canada, as well as at private events including bar mitzvahs and dinners.
Comprised of students and young professionals, they focus on energetic, meaningful arrangements that blend Jewish themes with universal appeal.
