Led by Senior Rabbi Shira Wallach, our Youth & Family Department is dedicated to creating meaningful Jewish experiences that inspire children, teens, grandparents, and families at every stage of life. From a child’s very first Shabbat experience to the milestone moments that shape Jewish life, we are here to help every family build lasting friendships, deepen their connection to Judaism, and feel at home within our vibrant community.
Whether your family is beginning its Jewish journey with Dor Chadash (infants through Pre-K), growing through the programs and experiences of Bonim (Kindergarten through 5th Grade), or creating treasured memories together with the Bubbie & Zayde Brigade, you will find opportunities to connect, celebrate, learn, and build lifelong relationships.

Dor Chadash is Hebrew for “new generation.” Families with young children (Infants – Pre-K) come together to explore, celebrate, and grow in their Jewish identity at Shearith Israel.
Bonim, which means “builders” in Hebrew, is our dynamic program dedicated to connecting our youth with synagogue life. Aimed at K-5th grade, Bonim focuses on fostering friendships and a sense of belonging within our synagogue and community.
Join the Bubbie & Zayde Brigade that is focused on joyful, meaningful, and fun-filled experiences designing to bring grandparents and grandchildren of all ages together. Come create lasting memories and deepen your bond with your grandchild(ren) at Shearith! Expect laughter, Jewish traditions, and moments that delight!
