FAQ
Wait, What Exactly Is This? A contest to create a kosher Hanukkah Menorah (Chanukiyah) using unconventional materials. The more “out there” the better! Who Can Participate? All Shearith Youth in Kindergarten – 7th Grade. Where Do We Get Materials? Shearith will supply a wooden base, and washers and nuts to be used as candle holders. Everything else is up to the designer! To reserve your materials, just email Sarah Lipinsky at [email protected] Do I Have To Use the Wooden Board, Nuts, and Washers Provided? You do not! Be as creative as you want! Just make sure your creation is a kosher chanukiyah. What Makes a Chanukiyah Kosher? All 8 candles must be the same height and arranged in a straight line. The shamash, helper candle, must be offset either higher or lower. Does It Need to Really Work? Nope! It’s fine if your Chanukiyah is simply a decorative art creation! Will There Be Prizes? YES! |

Acrylic paint works best, but any paint—even washable—works. Elmer’s glue probably won’t do the trick on this project! Try all purpose tacky glue. For further glue questions, please reply to this email. |
