![]() Last night we had a beautiful evening here at Shearith as we hosted the 1st Annual Greater Dallas Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. Beck Family Sanctuary was filled with 400 people from Jewish, Christian and Muslim congregations all over the area who came for a celebration of community and to reflect on the evening’s theme of “Diverse in Faith, United in Gratitude”. Our spirits were uplifted by words from the pulpit from faith leaders of various traditions, and by the beautiful musical performances that spoke to our hearts and souls. If you’d like to read the sermon I shared during the service, please click here.
We also were inspired by the mission and efforts of the North Texas Food Bank, as related to us by its President and CEO, Trisha Cunningham. $2000 and a number of large boxes of non-perishable food items were collected for NTFB during the course of the evening. After the service, those in attendance gathered for a dessert reception and fellowship in the Levine Family Community Court, giving people more time to meet new friends from other area houses of faith and share warm Thanksgiving wishes with one another. All in all, it was a truly special evening, and I’m incredibly thankful for the partnership of other faith leaders in our area who worked with me to help make this service a reality. And most of all, I’m grateful to members of our congregation and so many other members of our Dallas community who came out to participate in the service and made it such a meaningful event. Best wishes to all for a Happy Thanksgiving, and we hope you’ll join us at next year’s service!
